Portrush Air Show was held over the weekend 5-6 September 2015. The main attractions were the Red Arrows (always well received) and a Vulcan Bomber from the cold war era. This is the Vulcan’s last season as spares are becoming difficult to source and manufacturer support is being withdrawn. This particular aircraft, XH558, is the only flying Vulcan in the world. Last Thursday cyclists descended on Bangor for the Final of the Seat Super 7 Criterium Series. This event ran from 3rd June, starting in Newry and ending on 13th August in Bangor. The other venues were Derry/Londonderry, Antrim, Newtownards, Banbridge and Titanic Quarter, Belfast. Roads in the town centre were closed and less proficient cyclists got a chance to ride on the traffic free roads prior to the race. Continue reading “Biking in Bangor”

Well the tall ships visited Belfast again and its been reported that over the four days they were here approaching half a million people came to see them. It certainly is a spectacle and the sun came out – for most of the time anyway.
The ships and other attractions were spread over a very wide area and this seemed to help prevent the congestion that can often happen at these events. The downside was lots of walking but then i do need the exercise!
Hats off to the organisers for a well planned and executed event. Continue reading “Tall Ships 2015”
