Portrush Air Show was held over the weekend 5-6 September 2015. The main attractions were the Red Arrows (always well received) and a Vulcan Bomber from the cold war era. This is the Vulcan’s last season as spares are becoming difficult to source and manufacturer support is being withdrawn. This particular aircraft, XH558, is the only flying Vulcan in the world.
Very much worth a mention was the Typhoon – plenty of noise and manoeuvres that made for a stunning display and a Hurricane fighter from the second World War. Who on seeing these aircraft, designed to do a similar job but sixty odd years apart, doesn’t wonder what the next sixty years will bring.
It wasn’t the warmest of days in Portrush as you can see from the photographs of some of the spectators but it didn’t rain and it seemed an enjoyable day was had by all.
